Our Programs

In Nebraska, in 2018, 237,440 individuals were food insecure — 12.3 percent of the state’s population. Nebraska’s children had a food insecurity rate of 16.7 percent, translating into 79,310 children. According to Feeding America, over 40,000 individuals are food-insecure in Lancaster County.

The Community Fridge is an effort to bring nourishment where there is hunger and to address the food insecurities that plague our community, while simultaneously supporting local small businesses. We do this by placing refrigerators throughout the community and paying local restaurants to fill them with fresh meals daily. We also hope to hand-deliver holiday meals to seniors who cannot leave their homes

Restaurants will prepare hundreds of meals with high standards for quality, nutrition and taste. Each meal will be made fresh daily following our nutritional guidelines of 1/3 produce, 1/3 protein and 1/3 carbohydrates.
We will source high quality restaurants throughout the Lincoln area from a variety of cuisines for a diverse and dignified experience

Each refrigerator will be cleaned and sanitized then carefully loaded with up to 100 meals each, as donations permit.

Because talent is distributed equally but opportunity is not.
There is the Miller/McRoberts Endowment for Kids in the Arts
A non-profit organization providing scholarship opportunities for underprivileged children ages 5-17 to participate in programs for the education, enhancement, performance and appreciation of the visual and performing arts.

W will team up with local established Theater, performing and visual arts programs as well as hosting free introductory classes and workshops to not only identify the need but those with interest while introducing those who may not know they have interest yet to these programs then getting them enrolled. A small fee will be assessed to establish buy in and other than that the qualification will be any child 5yrs-17yrs already receiving benefits through the state of Nebraska assistance programs.
